New Grads from High School, College or University are looking for direction in their lives and success in their careers. This book has 20 chapters written by 20 people who have made it through the transition into the working world. They have conquered 'The Quarter Life Crisis'. Each achieving success in their own right. Our authors share their own successes and failures so that The20Project readers can avoid some of the pitfalls, make their own decisions and create their own compelling stories. |

The20Project chapter excerpt:
‘To say I had a tumultuous relationship with the school establishment would be an understatement. It is interesting when you look back and try to determine the moments in your life that truly matter. What makes them different from all the rest?
I believe it is the moments you decide you matter. Your belief in you takes precedence above all else, and while that might seem simplistic, it is the very essence of personal success. Belief in yourself and your abilities. One of those defining moments happened for me when I stood in my principal’s office hearing once again that I was stupid, I would not amount to much, and I would be lucky to graduate high school. I simply turned around, left the office, and ran home in my stocking feet in the middle of winter. Deep down I knew that I was not what she was saying. I knew that I was something more than that.’ NJ |

Why The20Project?
The20Project was created from a number of mentoring conversations I was having with young people who were looking for advice to help them through their 'quarter life crisis'. Due to these conversations, I felt like I needed to share my story but also, there are a lot of really great people out there with fascinating stories that others can learn from. So I sent an email out to a number of people and asked for contributors. The result is The20Project! Our contributors come from all over the world and all have very different ways of looking at things.
I remember when I was 20, I was working in a foreign country as a scuba instructor and had absolutely no idea what I was going to do when I grew up. My personal journey has not been easy or smooth and for the most part I feel like I am still in the middle of it!! It is our hope that the stories, wisdom and advice contained in The20Project will have a positive impact on the people who read it and additionally we are donating the proceeds of the book to help kids who would otherwise not be able to even attend school. This project wouldn't be possible without major support and contributions! Thank you for your interest and please start participating in the conversation #the20project. Cheers, Hilary A journey of a thousand miles must begin with one step. |
